John Bradly

From Dave, Pete & Christine
It is with great sadness that we let you know about the death of John W. Bradly. He lost a short but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer on June 16th. He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of over 50 years, and will be missed terribly by his family and friends.

The funeral will take place at
The West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Garston, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD25 0JS  (Tel: 01923 673285) at 16:00hrs (4pm) on Wednesday June 23rd. A Buffet-Reception will be held at Ashwell House, 167 Verulam Road,  St. Albans, Herts AL3 4DW at 17.00 (5pm) on Wednesday June 23rd. RSVP to  john.bradly@ntlworld.com by Sunday night please as prefered means of contact. Please pass this on to any that you think we may have missed.

Dad's nominated charity is the Cancer Research UK, and he would prefer you make a donation either at the funeral or at this website rather than sending flowers.

Jack Edwards adds:
John was a stalwart of the Grafham 505 fleet for so long I think we owe him a good send-off.

And Dave added later:
Dad was a devoted 505 sailor most of his sailing life and actually passed on the afliction to me and I have sailed one too for many years (now in Canada). He loved his time in the fleet and made many life long friends there. Dave Bradly (GBR 8311)

Eddie Bladon
Tom Carr sent the followig obituary. Eddie was my main rival at West Cheshire SC when I started in a 505 there.

Arthur Edward Bladon FRICS FCIArb
1923 -2010. Liverpool, England

Eddie Bladon was born in Wallasey the eldest of three children. He joined the RAF as soon as he was old enough in 1940 and served throughout the Second World War as a navigator with 296 squadron. He saw active service in campaigns in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Europe, including all the major invasions by the Allies.

After the war he resumed his interrupted studies for the RICS examinations and in 1947 he married Mavis, with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage and raised two sons and a daughter. He worked for several firms of chartered quantity surveyors in Liverpool before founding Bladon & Kirkham in 1960 with Jack Kirkham. He applied the same boundless energy to his many outside interests as he did to his work. As a member of the West Cheshire Sailing Club he was a fierce and hugely successful competitor, sailing his 505 well into the 1970s.

Eddie died peacefully with members of his closest family present.
